COUNTRY HOUSE XAYMACA
A Haven of Sensations
The exquisite simplicity and harmony of colours and styles. The charming fusion of different cultures and features. The respect for tradition with high, wooden-beamed ceilings, authentic stone walls, and original terracotta floors, create a charming and harmonious atmosphere where quality is the trademark throughout. Everything has been conceived to welcome and indulge the visitor, guest and friend in this home away from home.
Xaymaca is a stately 19th century residence, popularly known as “Aunt Genoveva’s house”, located on the edge of the small village of Benimeli, with façades overlooking both the village and the surrounding orange groves. After a lengthy and meticulous renovation, it has been converted into an stunning, self-catering holiday home, with a capacity for up to 8 people. Inaugurated in December 2004, this luxury rural accommodation covering 230m2, has ample spaces distributed on two floors. Xaymaca is the ideal place for holidays with family or groups of friends who share similar interests (walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, golfers, sports enthusiasts, etc) or for those who simply wish to get away from it all and rediscover life’s simple pleasures.
Let us take you on a tour of this very special holiday retreat. (Poner enlace a House Description & Equipment)
Massive old wooden doors lead from the house’s private parking lot into an open courtyard, formerly used as an oil mill, with stone walls and a Moorish style fountain surrounded by verdant and colourful plants and flowers, that welcome and soothe the travel-weary guest. Here, al fresco meals can be enjoyed in summer and winter around a large wooden table with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
Two blue-framed French doors lead us from the courtyard into a spacious and sunny living room, furnished with comfortable sofas, auxiliary tables and a wood-burning stove. At the far end of this room is the satellite TV, video /DVD and CD-radio player, as well as bookshelves filled with a wide selection of multilingual books, DVDs and board games for all ages and interests.
This living room leads into a rustic styled kitchen, with handmade glazed tiles and colourfully painted wooden cabinets, which has been fully equipped with state of the art kitchen equipment to satisfy the most demanding culinary needs.
From the kitchen, a large archway leads into a spacious open-plan area. This is divided into a cosy living room, whose modern fireplace creates a stunning feature against the backdrop of stonewalls, and a dining room with a large wooden table with seating for 8 people. A unique terracotta-clad pillar divides this area from the hallway where impressive wooden doors comprise another entrance to this magnificent house.
A discreet cloakroom is ensconced under the stairs that lead up to the first floor where the four bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom are located. Two bedrooms have comfortable queen-size beds and share a secluded terrace overlooking the patio and mountains beyond. The other two bedrooms have comfortable twin beds and views of the village. All bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished to high standards with carefully selected bed and bath linen. The ample-sized bathrooms, decorated to each bedroom’s theme, are equipped with modern sanitary ware. Three bathrooms have large walk-in showers, while the fourth has a whirlpool bath.
Outside, from the courtyard, a stairway leads up to the fruit orchard and landscaped garden, where a large, private swimming pool ( 11 x 4m) , that can be floodlit at night, will refresh you from summer’s heat. A covered porch, with outdoor furniture and the barbecue area, with everything necessary to prepare al fresco meals, complete this unique vacation retreat, which enjoys magnificent views over the valley and surrounding mountains.
Sunbathe in the garden, relax or read under shady trees, pick fruits from the orchard, or simply contemplate the scenery or the stars by night; all this and much more offers you Xaymaca, a haven of peace and tranquillity.

A MAGICAL ENCLAVE - Awaken your senses
Benimeli and the Rectoria valley
We invite you to discover the beauty and enchantment of this land, to change your life for a few days. Delightful surprises await you. Immerse yourselves in the surroundings and feel the magical spell of the Mediterranean light. Let us help you awaken your senses with the scent of orange blossom, almond trees in bloom, birdsong, heavenly sunsets …
Benimeli, where the self-catering country houses “El Sequer” and “Xaymaca” are located, is a small village of approximately 360 inhabitants. Formerly a Moorish settlement, whose name in Arabic means “sons of kings”, today, it is one of the prettiest villages in the Marina Alta region, with narrow and winding streets, stately houses and a picturesque main square. Here can be found the 18thC Saint Andrew’s church, a cultural centre, the Town Hall, a bar/restaurant and a grocery store. The village’s infrastructure that boasts a sports complex, municipal swimming pool, chemist, post office, butcher and bakery, is sufficient to meet the needs of both residents and visitors. Headquarters of the Recoría Musical Band, Benimeli celebrates several cultural and musical events throughout the year. A pleasant climate all year round is another attraction this privileged location offers as a holiday retreat.
Nestled amongst citrus, olive and almond groves in the Rectoria valley, and surrounded by various mountain ranges, its strategic position allows the visitor the best of two worlds: the tranquillity of a rural setting yet easy access to many places of interest or coastal resorts with more activity. Halfway between Valencia and Alicante, a few kilometres inland from the Costa Blanca, it is undoubtedly an excellent starting point to visit other inland regions and the rest of the Valencian Community.
The Rectoria Valley, is composed of 8 small and enchanting villages, forming a semi-circle around the Girona river that winds down to flow into the Mediterranean Sea. This fertile valley, a green oasis of citrus groves, is interwoven by rural lanes that are ideal for walking or cycling. (FOTO)
The small group of mountain ranges that surround it are perfect to practise activities such as walking, trekking, hiking, rappel, canyon descent, mountain climbing (Hell’s Ravine in the Laguar valley) or speleology. In the Segaria mountain range, which seems to protect the village of Benimeli, archaeological remains from Iberian and Moorish times can be found, as well as their ancient terraces, once used for agriculture. In the area, there are many natural springs, with crystal clear water (Campillo and Catalá springs) and caves (Bolumini), and from the head of the valley a spectacular uninterrupted view down to the Mediterranean Sea.
Only a few kilometres from Benimeli are some of the Costa Blanca’s most emblematic towns which are worth visiting:

Gastronomy and Wines
The Marina Alta district, where Benimeli is located, is also famous for its excellent and varied gastronomy, which the visitor can savour and enjoy in typical, traditional or nouveau cuisine dishes. Not far from Benimeli are several well-known restaurants, some of which are listed in the Michelin Guide. Paellas, fish, seafood, meat, cold-meats, fresh vegetables and fruit from the Valencian “huerta” are ingredients to be found in all restaurant menus.
The Marina Alta district has a long-standing wine-producing tradition and in recent years, a new generation of Alicante and Valencian wines are on a par with other well-known Spanish wines. The sweet muscatel wine from Teulada and the Pop Valley, white wines from the Alto Vinalopó, and red and rosé wines from Utiel-Requena have carved out an important niche in the market, both at home and abroad. If you are interested in wine, we can prepare visits to small, local, family-run vineyards, and provide information on “wine routes”.
